“Caribbean Currents: From Cuba to Caracas” is our next encounter with the extraordinary guitarist Jose Lezcano with a repertoire conceived like a voyage through the most important currents of the Latin American and Caribbean guitar musical composition. This concert is presented in collaboration with “Music In Miami” 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization.

Dr. José Lezcano is Professor of Music at Keene State College, where he teaches and coordinates the guitar program, and courses in Latin American music. Lezcano has earned numerous professional recognitions, including first prize in the MTNA National Guitar Competition, the NHSAC Individual Artist Fellowship, NHMTA Composer of the Year (twice), KSC Distinguished Research Award, and a Fulbright Award to Ecuador.

Flutist Karrie Griffiths, Bachelor’s Degree (the University of Texas at Austin) and master’s degree (Temple University, Philadelphia), will join Dr. Lezcano’s composition “Sonatina Tropical for flute & guitar.”

The program will also feature bandolist Maestro Saúl Vera interacting in the traditional Venezuelan root repertoire. The concert will be a rich and deep experience full of Latin American sounds and impressive virtuosity.
