Diego Paredes is a renowned Venezuelan musician, producer and arranger. Diego attended the prestigious Bass Collective in New York City where he studied jazz theory, bass techniques, improvisation, advanced sight-reading, recording techniques, performed in jazz ensembles and also participated in the SOJ Jazz Study Center.
While studying in New York, Diego had the opportunity to learn from legendary musicians such as John Patitucci, Lincoln Goines, Matthew Garrison, Gary Willis, Gregory Jones, Joe Fitzgerald, Hilliard Greene, Steve Marks, Mike Pope, Kim Plainfield, Rufus Plilpot, Bob Quaranta, among others. During these years he also played in different jazz, fusion, latin, brazilian, pop and rock projects.
As a producer, he’s led projects that involve different music genres such as jazz, pop, rock, latin, venezuelan folk music, electronic music, among others. Diego has arranged and produced several songs that have topped the Venezuelan radio charts.
As a producer/arranger , Diego has been involved in different Projects such as: Latin American Idol, Victor Muñoz/Guaco, Vielka, Juan Miguel, Victor Drija, Daniela Bascopé, Mariaca Semprún, Nelson Arrieta, Lubert Pulval, etc. He has also recorded and performed with artists such as The Diego Paredes Project, Changuito, Jerry Rivera, Guillermo Carrasco, Vielka y su Tumbao, Chino y Nacho, Nelson Arrieta, Julio Rodríguez/Guaco, Víctor Muñoz, Juan Miguel, Cabas, and many more.
- In 2014, the album “Tango Remedio” (Daniela Bascopé) which was produced by Diego Paredes was nomited for “Pop Album of the Year” in Venezuela’s top music awards: Pepsi Music Awards.
- In 2006 Diego founded Tumbao Music, a label which produces and manages many successful Venezuelan artists.
- In 1999 Diego Paredes received the award for “Best Bass Player” by the Fundación Cultural José Angel Lamas in the “III encuentro de Música Urbana”.
